How To Install An AOV Smoke Vent Dome On An Upstand

Step by Step Installation Guide

  1. Upstand Preparation

    Upstand Preparation

    Prepare the weathered upstand in accordance with the requirements on Page 1 of our Installation Guide.

    Install roof covering to cover side and top of insulated upstand in accordance with manufacturer's installation recommendations. Ensure the top surface is level with no excessive buildup of layers.

  2. Apply Mastic/Silicone

    Apply Mastic/Silicone

    Apply mastic/silicone around top inside edge of the upstand.

  3. Place Kerb Over Roof Opening

    Place Kerb Over Roof Opening

    With the hinges facing upslope, place kerb squarely over the roof opening.

  4. Open Hinged Frame

    Open Hinged Frame

    To open, connect the brown (to +ve) and the blue (to -ve) to a 24V DC supply.

    Only use 24V power (NOT 18V) to avoid damaging unit.

    Open hinged frame to 90°. Ensure kerb is supported when open to avoid damage.

  5. Fix Kerb Fasteners

    Fix Kerb Fasteners

    Fix 125mm kerb fasteners through 6x pre-drilled holes in front and back.

  6. Fix Kerb to Upstand

    Fix Kerb to Upstand

    Fix kerb to upstand using 125mm kerb fasteners.

    Ensure to check the fixing quantities table on the printed Technical Bulletin on the Installation Guide.

  7. Close Hinged Frame

    Close Hinged Frame

    To close, reverse the wires to power supply.

    Frame will not fully close if cable is protruding.

  8. Wind Deflectors (If Required)

    Wind Deflectors (If Required)

    If wind deflectors are to be fitted, follow steps 2 to 5 and page 4 before connecting electrics.

  9. Connect Electrics

    Connect Electrics

    Connect electrics (see Wiring Instructions and Control System, page 3). This should only be completed by a suitably qualified electrician.

    Completed AOV Mardome Smoke Vent

    The completed AOV Mardome Smoke Vent comes with a 10 year warranty, while providing natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilation to your space.
